Brian & Julie O'Herin

Brian and Julie have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1984. Brian currently serves as Associate International Linguistics Coordinator for SIL International, Wycliffe’s sister organization. This role involves facilitating the use of linguistics as a tool in the tasks of Bible translation, literacy and survey worldwide.

Previously, Brian and Julie worked on a translation project in Eurasia (Brian continues to help occasionally with checking). They also have served many years in various SIL training programs, in Washington, Oregon, California and Darwin, Australia, in both teaching and administrative roles. Brian earned a PhD in linguistics from UC Santa Cruz in 1995.

Brian and Julie’s 2 sons are in college and enjoy serving God and others.  Kevin will graduate with a degree in Romance Languages & Literatures: Hispanic Studies from Harvard in 2009, and is engaged to be married to Alice Chi (also Harvard ’09, East Asian Studies). Steven is studying Philosophy at UCLA (Class of ’11).

Please Pray:

  • For Brian in his role as Associate International Linguistics Coordinator. May his service, planning, organizing and communicating promote and facilitate good linguistics, and ultimately good translations of God’s Word.

  • For Julie as she supports Brian and the family, works to improve her health,  and as she serves others in various ways in her local community.

  • For the translation project, that it would move forward in God’s timing, for those involved, and that His name would be honored through the process.

  • For Kevin and Alice as they finish up their studies, and for their upcoming marriage.

  • For Steven as he serves in the leadership of his Christian fraternity (ΑΓΩ), and for his work, ministry and studies.

  • For all of us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
