Grace Family, let’s not forget that it is “through our prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:19) that God will present each one of us mature in Christ. Let’s be lifting up our brothers and sisters at Grace in prayer this week by name!

With the last few verses of chapter 1 (27-30), Paul exhorts the Philippian church concerning their “progress and joy in the faith.” Notice how Paul sees the Christian life as one of forward movement, of ongoing growth.

“Standing firm”
“Striving side-by side”
“Engaged” in the spiritual battle

The Christian life is not a passive life. It is not “let go and let God.” The gospel of Christ is news that should renew our minds and transform our lives.

Randall Gruendyke will be preaching from Philippians 1:27-30 this Sunday and David Roberts and Kenny Clark will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare? And would you read the passage for Sunday and pray for our church.

Pray that we would continue to seek the Lord concerning our chains, asking for strength, for a Christlike mindset, and the desire to lean into them to see the gospel advance through them. Pray for those who are right now facing the sorts of circumstances that “threaten to undo us” that the Spirit of Christ would fill them and help them to stand firm. And let’s start praying the things of vv. 27-30 for the people of Grace, too.

Thank you, Grace. See you Sunday. Come hungry!
