Guatemala Missions Trip Update
At our March baptism service, Andrew Yap shared about a short-term dental missions trip he was about to take to Guatemala with a team of Christian dentists. Here’s a word of thanks and report on the trip from Andrew.
Thanks everyone for your prayers for my week-long mission trip to Guatemala in March. I was able to mentor two dental students from Texas over the week and I shared an encouragement and personal testimony of God’s faithfulness to our group on Thursday evening. It was truly a blessing to work on a team with other Christian dentists and dental students to pull together knowledge, resources, and donations.
We were able to set up a very simple, but modern clinic that allowed us to treat over 750 patients over 5 work days and perform a variety of procedures on kids and adults, such as white and silver fillings, extractions, root canals, and even a partial denture that replaced a lady’s front four missing teeth. We brought a portable digital x-ray unit that allowed us to have access to x-rays if we needed.
In addition, I was able to spend time with a few translators, who spoke both Spanish and English, and engaged them in spiritual conversations. God continues to inspire me through other dentists, like the role models on this trip, that have been obedient to God’s call to perform portable dentistry in developing countries to share God’s love and healing.
