The Heart of Mark: Transformed

HeArt of Mark: Transformed

Our journey through the Gospel of Mark is nearing an end. The King and the Cross have spoken to us. We have been transformed. Celebrate with us! An artistic expression of how the truths of Mark have worked in the lives of our congregation.

As we ended our preaching series in Isaiah in 2011, we celebrated with that giant artistic exclamation point! Do you remember? We held ‘The Heart of Isaiah’. One glorious Sunday we filled the east sanctuary with art in our attempt to convey truth from each of the 66 chapters of Isaiah in unique expressions of faith.

That evening helped to shape us as a church. What if we did that again with the book of Mark? Does that excite you? Could you see yourself zeroing in on a particular passage, person, verse or phrase in Mark, and relating to it in some artistic way?

If your thing is paints and canvas, paint away! If it's sculpturing, sculpt! If it's music, compose something. Our main goal is that we see the truth of the gospel of Mark making an impression on us, through you.

We're calling it: THE HEART OF MARK: Transformed.

Our next Reflection Service is November 22. The Heart of Mark will be from 4 until 7 p.m. that evening. May what is displayed and sung and spoken be all to God’s glory. Contact Jocelyn ( in the church office for further details.

Your grateful elder,
Walt Harrah

Heart of Mark: Young Artists’ Reflections

November 22 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
We are excited to expand our Heart of Mark: Transformed reflection service to include the art of the children of our congregation! Has your child been impacted by the book of Mark this past year as he or she joined you in worship or studied with you at home? Would you consider equipping and encouraging your child to create an artistic expression of faith inspired by the book of Mark? Kid-friendly, creative mediums (lego sculptures, collage, playdough, etc.) are encouraged in addition to drawings and paintings. Consider a family project or a collaborative project with friends. Our main goal is that we see the truth of the gospel of Mark making an impression on us, through the art of your child. Please let us know that your child plans to participate. Please follow this link to our online form.

Young Artist submissions may be dropped off at Fullerton or La Mirada campuses on Sunday, November 15 between services or at the La Mirada Church Office on November 16-18, 9-5pm.
