"For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God." — 2 Cor. 4:15

March 17, 2019

“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead… (Phil. 3:13).”

What lies ahead makes all the difference.

In February, I had the joy (and pain!) of running a 200-mile relay with 11 other guys from Grace out in Arizona. For each of the 36 legs, there would be a ONE MILE TO GO sign posted. As I was running my third and final leg after being mostly awake for 36 hours, legs exhausted, that blue ONE MILE TO GO sign was like a shot of adrenaline and I was able to dig a little deeper and “strain forward” (and it was definitely a strain).

What lies ahead for us in Christ?
Among other things, this.

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself (Phil. 3:20-21).”

Are you weary? Does your faith feel thin? Has sin had a field day with you this week? Our passage in Philippians will be like a bright blue ONE MILE TO GO sign for us on Sunday. What lies ahead will make it all worth it. The Lord will get us to the finish line.

“Only let us hold true to what we have attained (Phil. 3:16).”

Randall Gruendyke will be preaching this Sunday and Kenny Clark will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare? And would you read the passage for Sunday (3:12-4:1) ahead of time and pray for our people and all who will be visiting?

Thank you, Grace. See you Sunday. Come hungry!
