Two weeks ago, we saw Jesus’ appearance to Mary Magdalene turn her sorrow to joy. Last Sunday, we saw his appearance to his disciples replace their fear with peace and gladness. But not all of the disciples were there. For some reason, Thomas missed that appearance and wasn’t ready to believe their fantastic claim, famously saying:
“Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” (John 20:19)
In our text this Sunday, we will see Jesus’ appearance to Thomas move him from disbelief to belief and even worship. I’m sure we can all relate to Thomas. We haven’t seen the risen Jesus physically, with our own eyes. We are still waiting for the day when “he will come with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him (Revelation 1:7).”
We don’t have to wait until that day to believe, though. The risen Jesus still reveals himself to us through the Scriptures, the written testimony of those who were eye-witnesses. So, come behold Jesus this Sunday with us as we continue our REVEALED series with John 20:24-29.
Jackson Randall will be preaching this Sunday and Kenny Clark & Ben Sae-Tang will be leading our sung worship. Would you read the passage ahead of time and pray for each as they prepare? And pray for all who will be at Grace for each of these services.
See you Sunday. Come hungry!
